Awareness

A key focus for Kids' Haven is to drive awareness of the issues grieving children face in our community and create an empathetic environment for them to feel supported in their journey.

KIDS' HAVEN IN RIVERSIDE PARK CHILDREN'S GARDEN

On the 20th anniversary of our founding, May 15, 2018 we unveiled an instrument and signage in the children's garden in Riverside Park.  Our hope is that this space will be a source of comfort to our families and every grieving family in our city.

ENDSTATION COLLABORATION CREATED A PLAY FOCUSED ON THEMES RELATING TO CHILDREN'S GRIEF

As part of our 20th year, we collaborated with Endstation Theatre Company through their playwrights initiative on a play that explores grief from a child's perspective. Thank you to the playwright, Michelle LoRicco for creating such an important piece of work. NICO'S VOLCANO by Michelle LoRicco Nico is acting out at school. His mom doesn't know what to do with him, and his sister isn't helping. But as Nico tries to deal with the anger he feels, he finds that a volcano has appeared in his closet, and it's begun to smoke... "Nico's Volcano" is new play for young audiences that deals with grief, anger, healing, and what it means to be a family.
